[V8] Engine Oil Quantity

I have reduced my oil changes to 8 quarts based on replies I got regarding an
earlier thread about smoke. I was getting serious smoke screens after 3-4 miles
of closed throttle coasting at speeds of 55-70mph. I'd get to the bottom of the
hill, press on the gas and...holy smoke screen, Batman. The lower oil level
seems to make a difference.
My 8 quart oil level is toward the bottom of the dip stick. I drip a fair
amount of oil :( and find it's off the stick at 2 quarts low.
Happy New Year.
