[V8] upper radiator hose

Thanks a bunch, guys. Apparently my V8 was reading my email and decided to
split at the end where it meets the passenger side head at the end of the
front straight at Waterford Hills track this morning on my first (and last)
run group. The weather was so perfect that I needed to liven things up a
bit with some nice slick coolant on the track ;-)

Anyhow, I noticed a bit more smoke out the back than usual and then it
became apparent it was steam. Oh, and the intermiitant IC ground problem
came into paly just a few laps earlier (perfect). Well, not surprisingly I
was black-flagged and steam was billowing out the front of the hood and I
slowly made myself back to pit row, popped the hood and found the inch-long
split in no time.

So after I let things cool down I removed the hose and found some ?Tommy
Tape?, that's a self-vulcanizing tape and wrapped the area, overlapping and
stretching the tape over the affected area. The military uses this type of
material for field repairs, so I thought it might do the job. Then, for
good measure I wrapped it once again with duct tape. I didn't change
running the car on the track again, but did make it to the office 25 miles
away. So far, no leaks -- butI did order the hose from my local dealer
~$150.
