... your description makes it a bit difficult to be sure of this, but I
suspect what you are dealing with is the HVAC blower motor cutting in and
out. I'll bet the A/C system is doing what it can to pump heat ... it is
just that you're not getting any airflow. If this is indeed your problem,
it is likely that the brushes on the motor are nearly worn out ... there's a
quick fix you can do under the hood to get it running reliably, pull the
plastic cover over the shelf at the back of the engine compartment ...
you'll see the blower box amidships, with a cylindrical extension on the
left side which houses the blower motor. Near where the extension joins the
main box you will see a rubber elbow ... unplug where the elbow attaches to
the extension and you will be looking at one of the brushes for the motor
through the hole. What I usually do is to turn the car on without starting
the engine and set the climate control fan on HI. If you carefully push on
the metal spring keeper to put a little more bias on the brushes you will
hear the motor start spinning again. This fix will give you a couple more
months of service, but eventually you will be replacing the blower motor ...
