You have much more lee way with the V8 cars as the oil sump holds almost 11 quarts of oil!

But it has been proven time and time again that synthetic oil is superior to dinosaur oil in every aspect (except price).

I doubt that putting synthetic oil in your car would cause any harm. The only instances I've seen causing harm to engines is when the engine was run on non-detergent oil, then a detergent oil was used. All the goo in the engine was absorbed into the oil, and then destroyed the bearings.
