Is this what causes the "creep" at idle. My V8 will probably do 5-10 mph
with out touching the gas on level ground.

Subject: [V8] Fwd: Warning - V8 Trans

This is from someone with some first-hand experience.

Can anyone confirm or further qualify this?

Do not let the car idle for after placing the car in any forward gear.
This is what caused the demise of #1's trans.

There is a documented design flaw that does not fully bleed down the
pressure on the forward clutch pack, after engaging a forward gear.
The fix is drilling a 3/32" hole into the clutch backing plate.

I hope that the switch to synthetic trans fluid was not the culprit on #1.
When I removed the trans pan & gasket there was plenty of clutch and metalic
particles in the pan. That is why I do not like just drain and fill method
of fluid change.
