Hello folks,
Been "off" the list for some time for many reasons but have just got back.
My problem is with a friends 90 V8Q. It all of a sudden started running terrible. She took it to the dealer and they gave her a quote of $3800.00 for basicly a tune up. It consisted of new plug wires, distributors and spark plugs. They said the right distributor cap was bad. Needless to say, she opted NOT to go that way and brought it to me.
What I found was the right distributor wasn't firing. I found the cap was broke. (not sure if the dealer did this or if it just broke). I replaced the cap, spark plugs and cleaned the rotor but this bank is still dead. I am getting a spark but not sure it is hot enough. I swapped the coils and coil wires from side to side and still no luck. I pulled the codes and get no errors.
The rotor looks good but can it "just go bad"?
Any ideas out there???
Thanks,
Rex Pedersen
