I would say you are on the right track as far as the cap. The next place I'd 
go is to check the voltage of the power wire going to the coil. If you don't 
have the schematics let me know, and I'll let you know what color it is.
By the way, I'd check the voltage there with the car running, and compare it 
to the other side. It should be around 12.5-13 VDC

Decide to give a "group" response to all that sent ideas.
Why did the cap break? I'm not sure as the dealer could have broke it. No 
tie rods were replaced so we can rule that out. It WAS a really rainy, 
sloppy day when this happened however.
I just rechecked the wiring (firing order) and it's correct. I'm using a 
laser themometer to check the "dead" cylinders and they are the ones from 
the right distributor. The two outer on the right bank and two inner on the 
left. Swapping coils made no difference.
I think my next move is a rotor. Does anyone have the Volkswagon part 
number? In my small town, they might have that one but nothing for Audis.
