This is a follow-up on my injector parts project...

First I want to publicly thank Scott Matus for helping me out by letting me come to his house on New Year's Day and cannibalize an injector from one of his two "resting" V8's so that I could get mine back on the road quickly without buying a new injector.

When I was replacing all the o-rings, on the very last injector I pulled, when I was cleaning it with a paper towel, the plastic cap on the tip cracked and broke off. Blast! Scott came to the rescue and I got my car going the next day. Thanks Scott!

Then the fun really began. I think I may have posted that the seal kits for a Mustang Cobra that another lister posted did not work for me. That was premature. The cap looks slightly different, but I never actually tried to install it on the injector. I guess for some strange reason I was concerned about breaking the cap and not being able to return the $2.50 seal kit. Duh. Anyway, I eyed it and decided to return the kit. Another lister later mentioned that he had used that same kit just fine. So I bought another kit and sure enough, the plastic cap fits perfectly.

I found these kits a Pep Boys, Napa, and my European & Japanese Auto Parts, my home-town euro parts source. The parts in the kit are different colors but they all work. There are two o-rings, a plastic spacer washer and the plastic cap for the tip.

The part numbers are:

Borg Warner 274081 Mustang Cobra spec p/n
Beck Arnley 1580291 Audi V8q
Napa 2-12085 Audi V8q

I bought first the BorgWarner then the Napa and they seemed to contain exactly the same pieces.

FYI,
Ed
