[V8] Rear caliper sticky problem

Had this happen on my 90. Munched a new set of pads and rotor on one side,
turned out to be the e brake cable was hanging up. You have to remove the
exhaust shield below the center u-joint of the drive shaft to get to the
cables and their adjustment point. The shield can be removed, at least on
mine, with a little sliding and maneuvering around the pipes. While your in
there be sure and lube the u-joint. This is a little tricky, I found that by
turning the grease zerk slightly, I could get the tip of my small grease gun
on it and give it a few pumps. I then turned it back to its original
position.

Subject: Re: [V8] Rear caliper sticky problem
I just had this happen to my car today. I pulled the wheel and was able to
coax the caliper back into life. I did a little research and it seems that
the
problem is often that the e brake cam located on/in the caliper gets a
little
rusty and seizes. I didn't have the time to do it today but I read that
penetrating lube and some cleaning often remedies the problem. Can anyone
give
any BTDTs on this topic? Thanks.
