[V8] exhaust needed for 90 V8 quattro

I need a new exhaust from the CAT's back on my 90 V8.  It's pretty rotted 
from the joint between the converters to the rear of the car.  Most places 
seem to be averaging around $700-$800 for it.  Anywhere out there have them 
a little cheaper or would I be better off to have my friend make them for me 
at his exhaust shop?
