[V8] (Oil) Can of worms - open with care

I recently used two 1-gallon jugs of Rotella 5W40 synthetic in my V8. Seems to be working quite well. Oil pressure is good. Cold starts are good. $12.88 a gallan at Advanced Auto.

I switched the urq over to synth because I know the I5Ts are rough on oil
... didn't have a problem with that one. Given the detergent
characteristics of modern oils, I think the risk is reduced ...
For me the "why" question would be the key. We're talking about an engine
that has an 8-10 quart capacity, has a large, well positioned oil cooler and
isn't really overly stressed ... personally I'll continue to replace the oil
with standard dino juice ...
