[V8] oil leak/ RMS

I took a look at the FA & noticed what you were
refering to,
it's ontop of the motor under the intake.
But from the looks of it the concentration of oil is
on the lower half of the motor. I took alot of stuff
off the top of the motor including the wire bracket
under the air box & didn't notice nearley the same
amount of oil that is consentrated at the lower half
of the block/tarnny.
So looks ike it's a RMS for me,
1 question can I manuver the tranny (still attatched
to the driveshaft) out of the way enough as to avoid
having to seperate the joint from the tranny? I'd just
sure hate to screw up the driveshaft bushing & have to
do that as well,
or do you think I should do it anyway?
& I think I'll take you up on the offer to list the
how to on pulling the trans. I've got the manuals &
have done a few tranny swaps but just want to make
sure I take care of this car EXTRA speacial not that
many around anymore with the low miles I have.
Thanks
Ron

The lower pan is pressed steel. The upper pan is
cast aluminum and runs thelength of the block. There
is a gasket for each...

Dave, What do you mean by upper pan gasket?

Not necessarily - BTDT. Problem was a leaky upperpan
gasket (in the rear). Came out the same 2 drain holes
as the RMSwould. Go to the trouble of pulling your
reference sensors or thestarter first to see if they
are covered with oil. I have a checklist madeup for
pulling the trans if you get to that point...Ron

Listers, Well I got a chance to crawl under the car
today

&

noticed alot of oil on the under side of
theblock/tranny, on the pass side cat, under side of
the tranny pan, all over the 02

sensor,

basicly all over the underside of the car as far

back

as the front of the rear doors. So that would have

to

mean RMS,whats involved in this? Any write ups on it?
I

have

the factory manuals for the car to make it easier,

a

friend to help,a garage, tools, & a LOVE for this car.
Also whatother things should I do while im in there?
I'vewanted to do the straner, gaskets, & oil for
thetranny probley a good time for that huh?Any
additional BTDT would be great.ThanksRon87 5ksq many
