I bought the same one the dealer sells for about 60-70$. BTW, steve, they
are close to you. It is a place called American Battery. They are at 3488
Arden Road in Hayward. Number is 510.259.1150. They may have one in San
Jose. They may also deliver to your work. They have me jobber rate.
Anyway, the battery is made by Douglas. They same company that makes all
the batteries for Audi, MBZ and I have been told BMW. They are white and
have the vent. Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY EXCIDE. I have had 3 of them
explode on me. Two in my Suburban, one in my V8q. WHAT A MESS. To find a
dealer call 1-800-368-4527. Sears also sells Douglas. But, they cost a bit
more there. You can buy a group 49 from them. But, most places have to
order it. I think they told me the cost was $120. But, I can't remember.
Another option is Costco. If they sell group 49. They carry Johnson
Control batteries. I have had good luck with them. I have also had good
luck with Interstate. But, they don't seem to last as long as the Douglas
or Johnson. One Johnson I have is about 8 years old and still starts a HIPO
454, er about 500-502 with the hogged out motor. BTW, don't cheap out and
try and buy a group 41. Most books say it will fit in a V8q. But, they
won't, BTDT.
