[V8] ServiceRecords?

... there is no guarantee that you'll be able to get this information from
any dealer ... other than perhaps the one that performed the work.  It is my
understanding that only the warranty service gets entered into the computer.
When I bought #344 I got assurances that the TB was done, both from the PO
and the dealer who performed the service.  When I got the car home I took
the car in to a local dealer and asked them to check when they looked into
an oil leak ... they told me that they could tell the serp belt had been
replaced recently, but that the TB itself had been in there for some time.
I was able to get the actual service records for the car later and confirmed
this.  Fortunately, I was able to see there that the engine had lost a TB in
its past, so the belt on the engine still had some life left ... 

I recommend that unless you can look at the car yourself that you have it
evaluated for service.  It isn't that difficult to remove the TB cover on
the left side of the engine ... you will be able to have a clear view of the
belt and you can a glimpse of the tensioning mechanism ...
