There is no such sensor on the V8 nor is the V8 ECU capable of giving such a
code. If VAG-COM is giving this code I suggest using the "blink" method to
retreive the real code.

00525 - Oxygen Sensor (G39)
             01-10 - Signal Shorted to B+ - Intermittent

A cause for sluggish part throttle operation as well as increased fuel
mileage but not a loss of power. Remember that the V8 reverts to "open-loop"
operation at full throttle and disregards the O2 sensor.

Much more revealing are the next three which all deal with the transmission.
The first two cause "electrical limp" which do NOT give an indication on the
dash, the third causes a "mechanical limp" which DOES give a dash indication.
All three cause a default 3rd gear selection by the transmission whenever the
gear selector is in a forward gear.......and that could definately be
described as a "loss of power".

00529 - Engine Speed Signal Missing
             01-10 - Signal Shorted to B+ - Intermittent
(translation: no engine RPM information from the engine ECU to the trans
controller)

00549 - Fuel Consumption Signal
02-10 - Signal Shorted to Ground - Intermittent
(translation: No throttle position signal from the TPS to the trans
controller)

00789 - Backup Switch (F41)
02-10 - Signal Shorted to Ground - Intermittent
(self explainatory)

My recommendation is to clear all engine and trans codes, drive the car
several miles and then retreive codes again to determine which are real codes and
which are false.
