I see no problem with purchasing an aftermarket air filter from a good manufacturer (Mann, K&N, etc) that is designed for the specific model car. If it saves you a few bucks and you are happy with that, great. Whether there is a Horsepower gain or not wasn't the issue and we could debate that for a long time as well as how much oil is the right amount for adequate protection without over doing it.
Whether a filter from Autozone (of what brand?) that appears to be of lesser quality of manufacturing will provide adequate filtering is an issue that would deter me from buying. There is no real way to determine how much more dirt the filter material may let through compared to an OEM unit from a reputable firm or the genuine Audi part. I personally would not want to take that chance with my engine.
I still would not put a filter designed for a BMW 530i in my car, not even for saving 4 lattes. :-)
