[V8] Alternator/capacitor?

I've seen them used on numerous vehicles, all the way back to the late
50's.

The condenser was added to the V8Q in response to owner complaints of rpm
whine.  It did not come from the factory until I believe the 1991 model
year.  It might have something to do with the antennas being built into
the windscreens being more susceptible to interference.  When the Bose is
in "safe" mode and cranked a bit, you can use it as an auditory tach
gauge in V8Q #1,  V8Q #2 with the external antenna does the same thing. 
Both have the condenser.  

I never listen to AM, but I'll check, I suspect that's where the
interference must be most noticeable.
