Kneale,
The answer to your question is as follows - No one can say for sure,
and if anyone does they are making assumptions that could cause you
trouble. Hoses can blow at any time, with or without warning, but these
are fairly low pressure hoses(Maby 100PSI compared to the 3500PSI
hydraulics I deal with) so a small leak is not as likely to cause a
catastrophic failure. My advice to anyone is to err on the safe side, fix
'em, or use another car. Now with that said, have I taken trips with
leaky things on my car? - sure I have, but I fully understand the risk
involved with that decision. If it were my car I would probably take it,
I usually carry a good assortment of tools and I am used to rebuilding
motors on the side of the road(haha). I would be wrong to suggest this to
you because I don't want to be responsible for the following: Blown
motor, engine fire, your motel(or hospital) and mechanic bill 760mi. from
home or the oil slick on I-whatever that causes the 72 car pileup. It is
probably not that bad, but I just had to say it. ;)
All in fun,
Jason
