I agree with Kent.  You can get all the parts and rent the tools for $500 -
$600.  If you have basic mechanical skills and the manual the job is easy,
takes a little time the first time.

$2100 will buy a lot of parts and special tools.  Since you have a 2nd car,
buy the special tools and take your time replacing the t-belt and relevant
parts.  The procedure is well defined.

As for the transmission, the big cause of failure seems to be a leaking rear
seal letting fluids mix. Replacing the transmission fluid on a yearly basis
would minimize the risk and extend its life.
