... and on the K&N:
I used one on my Explorer for years. I never noticed any increase in MPG or
power, but I did have an increase in maintenance time. I went back to hi-quality
paper elements and change them fairly often. All of the studies I have read show
the K&N breaths a little better at first but the paper works better over time
and always filters better. Plus, filter oil improperly applied can foul a MAF
sensor.
I say just stick with the MANN paper filters. They are pretty cheap now.
