[V8] Alternator/capacitor?

Hey guys,
   Alternator light came on tonight - found a capacitor in line between
two wires that come off the back of the alternator - one wire had corroded
off the terminal of the capacitor.  Question, does anyone else have this
capacitor and is is needed?  I can't find anything on it in the service
manual?  Where do I get one quick?
