[V8] Alternator/capacitor?

You say condenser - I say capacitor. They are the same thing. If it is
broke, just take it off. If you have no motor noise in the stereo and
the car runs OK then no big deal. If you do hear whining in the stereo
then keep in mind the ECU and all the other electronics will "hear" it
too. They may not care but this sort of thing can cause all sorts of
bizarre behavior with computer controlled systems. It is curious to me
that Audi even put it there. All the major control units and the stereo
have internal noise filtering. Either Audi saw a need for it or it is
just a little over engineering. I have never seen this on another car,
and in fact when I rebuilt my alternator the guy who tested it was
surprised at how clean its output was. He called it "peppy" which I
took as a complement from a guy who spends his day doing this sort of
thing. This all would lead me to not worry about taking it off.
