[V8] V8 5spd conversion... it can be done LONG

... I agree with what you're saying here 100% ...
... the one thing that was clear was that Keith was providing his informed
support to Shiv ... as I'm sure he has and will do for others who brave the
DIY route. There are others here who would rather not undertake such a task
themselves ... I can think of several folks on this list who have paid
wrenches to do tasks I have done for myself. In the light of that fact, the
public information that is available here could be handed over to such a
wrench ... allowing that individual to benefit from someone else's efforts
... this is not kosher in my book. If someone wants to have their wrench do
this job ... perhaps Keith would be willing to share info for a consulting
fee. That said, if I did all the work on a 5-speed conversion on my own, I
personally would not have any problem sharing freely with the list ... but
since my cars already have 5-speeds there isn't too much to worry about in
this instance! :-)
[personal thoughts on chip copying deleted]
I think it is also appropriate to point out that all vendors do benefit from
the fact that there is a collection of Audi V8 owners on this venue ... I
don't think it would be difficult to prove that business is enhanced by this
list. Hopefully vendors do take that into account and provide a bit of that
extra benefit to Dan for the maintenance of the hardware that provides this
service ...
