I did these a couple of months ago on a friends car. When we searched we
found bimmerzone.com had the cheapest prices at the time.

Subject: [V8] Help! Engine Sensors
Hi All,
My normally trustworthy steed went AWOL on me this past weekend. Driving
down the road and it just died. Check engine light came on and car lost all
power (still had electrical). I let it sit for about 10 minutes, and it
started up again, only to die about 10 minutes later. It continued to do
this until I made it home--interesting trip to say the least.
I'm guessing it's the engine sensors. Any speculation out there as to which
one? Looking for a cheap source for them so I can replace and get the car
back running normal.
Also, I understand that Steve B. fashioned a heat shield to protect the
sensors from damage. Steve, was that an off-the-shelf item? Any info on
it? I figure while I'm in there I might as well look for a more permanent
solution.
TIA
