[V8] left distributor isn't lining up

I had the same problem last November.  This was my post.

Use an ohm meter to check the wires.
Coil wire resistance should be  2000 +/- 800 ohms
Ignition cable resistance should be 6000 +/- 1400 ohms

I also had a similar problem serveral weeks ago (no power and the the engine
missed and backfire) turn out to be that I needed to replace distributor
caps and rotors along with a blown ignition coil module.  Smoke was pouring
from behind the left cylinder.

The rotors was a set screw type and I ended up reversing the rotor 180
degree.  Felt really stupid after discovering what I have done.  Reset the
rotor to the correct position and the car runs fine once again.  The cap can
be removed with either a screw driver (two screws) or a 8mm thin wall
socket.  The distributor is held by two bolts (10mm I believe).  The
original rotors were glued on and I just use a visegrip to crack the old one
off.
