OK, so it starts fine with one distributor - but not two? Possibility that
the plug wires are hooked up incorrectly on the other distributor?

So, I just went out to the wifes V8, unplugged the right distributor, and
the car starts right up. There is a hesitation when you punch it, but at
idle there is NO difference in the way it runs. This may also trigger the
check engine light. I wouldn't know, mine is on all the time (a project for
another day)
This has me thinking it has to be something to do with the reference/timing
sensors. My question is, shouldn't it put out a code for them, or is it
possible to have a problem and the car not tell you. Sort of the opposite of
the Autocheck computer :-)
