Bill:
Turn them either 90 or 180 degrees then pull straight up if they are like the 
type 44's 100/200 etc.........

You'll see two pictured.  One installed and the other angled to the camera 
with the notch "V" pointed out in white.
They align as the threaded rod has a groove on it.  Twist 90 degrees and the 
threads "catch"
