[V8] Airbag lights and airheads

Hi Ralph

In less than three minutes, you can remove the drivers side console panel. There
are only two (easily accessible) Phillips head screws. With this panel off you
should be able to access the diagnostic connectors (one black and one white as I
recall) as well as the safety disconnect connector for the airbag.
Why this did not occur to a factory trained tech will have to remain a mystery
but if I was you, I would remove the panel and go to a friendly independent shop
to see if they can either reset the light or tell you why it is stuck on.
Anybody in your area with the VAG-COM or equivalent software could do this.
It is just plain silly to make you wait 3 weeks for a job that would take a
marginally competent monkey five minutes.

In fact, for what the dealer is likely to charge you, you could buy the VAG-COM
setup. I believe the cheapest one is around $200.
