[V8] Well, I asked. And I didn't like what I found out....

I just finished with the auction of my '93 V8 on eBay.
It was a ten day auction and at first I thought it would be a good one.
MANY watchers, and some bids early. Quite a few good questions, and one
bidder actually called to speak with my mechanic.
My car is a very, very good example, and early this year ALL the work was
done that the car needs...timing belt, water pump, hydraulic pump and lots
and lots more little thingys under the hood. 98000 miles.
Now the NADA Guide shows the retail value of this car at a whopping 12
grand. What dreamers! Still and all, I KNOW that my car is really a good
one and "everything"...just about, has been "done". I reserved a LOT lower
than the NADA Guide, Kelly Blue Book or anyone else's "book". The result?
NADA. and I don't mean N.A.D.A., I mean nothing. Bidding ended somewhere
near half what my reserve was. Wow!
So, I guess I'll justkeep driving my car, even though it is not what I need
to drive on a daily basis. It's too good to give away, so I think I'll just
drive it until someday...well, maybe they'll bury me in it!
$4,000? I don't think so.
And my advice to anyone else with a V8 is to drive it until the wheels fall
off, and then put them on and drive it some more. For whatever it costs to
replace it with anything, a LOT of work can be done on it.
Spend your children's inheritance. Enjoy the guilt!
