Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall Audi ever racing any variant of 
the V8 4.2.  The 3.6 raced and raced successfully in the DTM series until 
they changed the rules to ban the flat crank Audi devised for the car, IIRC. 
  Thereafter, the 4.2 was introduced and the racing program for the 3.6 was 
dropped.  In any event, I seriously doubt any street car has the flat crank, 
which is probably the greatest distinguishing feature of the Audi V8 DTM 
race cars.

Hyperbole?  Unquestionably.
