[V8] Steering rack, servotronic or no?

What's the quickest way to tell if my steering rack in my V8q is servotronic or not?  Had white Pentosin mist/smoke coming from the engine bay tonight, so I know it is time to replace it.  The boot was cut the last time we looked at it, and I guess that's all she wrote.  Also, who sells them the cheapest?  Is it a good idea to let someone who doesn't work on Audis do this job?
