If you find a broken wire in the harness, there probably are half a dozen
more ready to break. The real repair is to replace all the wires (except
maybe the speaker wires) going through the door jamb. It's a tedious but
not complicated process. You remove the door panel, remove the kick panel
in the cabin, cut a bunch of 18-20-inch lengths of the appropriate sized
wire, cut one in the kick panel area and crimp a length onto the stub in
the cabin, feed it through the doorjamb, cut the same one in the door, well
inside the jamb area, and crimp again. Good quality butt connectors of
appropriate size and a good ratcheting crimper will get the wire part of
the work done in a couple of hours. Door/kick panel removal/reinstallation
will add some to that. If you carefully mark the location of the adjuster
screws on the door/panel, you don't have to do much fussing when you
reinstall the panel, and if you carefully mark where the wires/switches go
in the door, that part isn't too difficult either.
