... I hear you Kent ... and I tend more toward the wild abandon myself ...
as probably most people here know, my motto is "I'm not going to break it
any more by trying to fix it!" In my case I have a basic knowledge of how
things work and can usually get myself out of trouble without having to pay
too much. And, hey, I've screwed myself up pretty bad once or twice because
I didn't fully know how things worked. There are others who have been
bitten once too many times and end up throwing in the towel ... and I think
that's a shame. The guy who was posting this already had to pony up $450 to
get his oil filter issue remedied ... I'd hate to hear how much a shop would
charge to fix the relatively simple door loom!
Even simple things can have repercussions ... your recommendation to simply
disconnect the battery ... well, do you have the radio code? You might well
create yet another task inadvertently. This is why I recommended that he
try to find someone local who can help him with the ropes up front ...
