[V8] Cold killing gas mileage (final)

Well, I think I've finally figured out what was causing my gas mileage to suffer. I was planning on going to the four wire sensor, assuming that my leaking valve seals had caused me to dump oil on the sensor and gumming it up. Though it was covered with black stuff, the loose black (sensor) wire probably had a lot more to do with it (I didn't do the crimping.) I went ahead and installed the new 4 wire O2 sensor, using the crimp/heat shrink method. Connected the gray wire to the engine block.
After zip tieing everything to keep it from moving, I started the car, and instead of starting like blah, blah, vroom, it was just straight vroom. That is the first time it has ever started up that fast. Ever. Car drives fine, and I also have no unburnt gas smell when I romp the accelerator. I will check the gas mileage and I truly expect to see an increase (maybe even some lost horses.)
Again, I thank everyone for their input on the matter. Wish I had done this sooner (stupid cold weekends.)
