[V8] V8 description (friction pad)

The parts counter confusion aside, I usually keep my car pretty clean,
and it's not uncommon to get comments from co-workers and other
outside-looking-in types like "hey neat car, is it new/what is it/is it
like an A8/etc.
My typical response is, "It's actually called a 'V8 quattro' -- it's a
pretty rare high-end luxury version they built on the old 5000 platform
-- mine's a '91 with over 200,000 miles, it's been awesome, and I hope
to keep it forever". Of course, when prodded, I gotta mention its got
an "All-aluminum 32v V8, which was really cutting-edge 15 years ago, and
mine's a stick shift, which they brought less than 100 total of to the
US".
It's funny, it's all common knowledge to us, but I've said that so many
times to various people who (surprisingly) notice it's not a typical
Audi, and they really seem to dig it. A few times the next question has
been, "sorta like a BMW M5/6 then"?, which I'm happy to leave it at.
Thinking back to when I first saw one, I'm not sure exactly what set it
apart -- I guess it was the front end or maybe the bigger wheel wells.
Whatever, they're hella cool...
