Hey Lawerence,
The kick down switch is built into the throttle cable and has a known
failure issue. I replaced mind a few years back for around $100 (?).
The switch is built into the throttle cable (it is the box that sits
flush with the engine side of the firewall) and operates when you
create enough pulling tension on it.
Swapping it out wasn't a real picnic. IIRC I removed the drivers coil
and a few other goodies to get my hands down in there. There is the
connector for the switch that is tucked under the floor mat (follow
the 2 brown wires that come through the hole in the firewall created
for the accelerator cable).
There is a possibility that the throttle cable is out of adjustment
and it is not the kick down switch, but I would guess that that the
other route is more likely.
Cheers,
- Jeremy
