And due to that process you can't _just_ bore these motors out, they
either have to be sleeved, or have the cyl wall treatment reapplied(good
luck there). Sleeving gets tricky with a larger bore, you need enough
material between the cyl walls to support the sleeves press fit, while now
bowing the aluminum in the adjacent wall, or intruding on it's space. I
talked in great length about this with my local machine shop engine
builder guru and after we punched a pile of numbers he was only confident
in maintaining the 81mm bore when sleeving. Which is what I was after
anyway since that'd allow a set of non-elf crafted forged pistons to be
used.
But I've yet to blow up my v8tt, so I haven't bothered getting one sleeved.
