Hi Roger and All ..

Roger,
Thanks for extending the invitation to a Light-Off and Lobster Fest
once again this, hopefully, soon arriving summer (or fall?) season.
Please do, keep us up to date, on any plans!

And would like to extend again, an offer for you, and any other listers to
join in, on the upcoming season's, lawn events, at the Larz Anderson,
Museum of Transportation, located on a nice knoll, just outside Boston.

http://www.mot.org/Events/calendar.html

The Calendar of events, is mostly set for the season, which will include
dates for a German Car Day, (in addition to separate dates for MB & VW).

Also of note the North East Chapter of the US Porsche Club will hold their
PorscheFest 2005 event, on the lawn, at the museum park in September.

As far as 928 Porsches go .. They like the v8Q's, have sperate characters
as well as floor pans, for the differing transmission offerings. I cant
disagree
with your choice, of an automatic, in these cars. As they were sort of the
limo
in the Porsche line up.

The early 928 MB automatics, were strong and simple units. And delivered
good performance (and were mostly reliable) .. But expensive when not -
I have heard - from some fellow Club Members.

I find, the cars character, well suited to manuals .. It is a Porsche after
all.
And their selection of the gear ratios, in the manual cars, made them quite
fleet of foot and could make lesser cars 'quickly shrink' to the rear.

The clutch in these cars, could be an issue .. (If they were abused.)

However it is one of the only cars I know of, that the clutch pack can
be changed out - without removing anything more - than the bottom
panel of the bell-housing. No need to remove any major components.

And can be done, on a weekend afternoon, pretty easily as I remember.
And sometimes, it would be possible, to have the disk(s) re-lined only.

Funny how, our perspectives change, over time - Before, I took on the
V8 Quattro .. I use to think the Porsche was a difficult and complex car!

Let me know, if you, or anyone has an interest making, an Audi Showing on
the German Car Day event .. (Bimmers, Benz and Porsche welcome too)!

Happy motoring ..

Ed.
