I haven't posted in a little while - had a little trouble titling/registering the V8Q in NJ b/c RI doesn't require titles for cars older than 10yrs. Needless to say, the blank stares I received from the good folks at the NJ's Motor Vehicle Dept. was not encouraging. But as my youngest brother used to say, "it's all good" - now.
BTW - thanks to all for the dashlight advice - I lucked out, fuse 14 was all it needed! Tach is intermittent - but I don't feel like pulling apart the dash for that at the moment.
I was definitely losing hydraulic fluid from the hoses where they clamped at the reservoir and have addressed that. But I still was leaking some fluid. At first I thought it was oil, but have since confirmed it is not.
I am going to try and post a pic of where it is leaking tonight, but figured I'd throw this post up in the meantime. Please forgive my ignorance in advance in trying to describe where it appears to be coming from, but here it goes:
First of all, it leaks only when the car is running. I got under there last night. It does not appear to be coming from the power steering pump or the hose itself. There is a 13mm bolt above the pump's pulley and it looks like th leaks originates starts right below the bolt - where the two pieces of metal are joined by the bolt. I'm assuming that this is one of the bolts holding on the pump. Does that make any sense? I don't see it originating anywhere else - just all of a sudden after running for a minute or two I see the spot below the bolt (NOT the bolt itself), begin to get moist and then start to drip, running down and then eventually off the corner of the oil-pan (which is why I thought it was the gasket originally). The upper oil pan gasket is bone dry.
Any thoughts or educated guesses before I post a pic? I remember hearing something about banjo fittings and hollow bolt - anyone care to enlighten me?
Thanks!
DaveM
