An Eaton M90 S/C only requires 16 hp at 6,000 rpm at 5 spi, 38 hp to spin to
12,000 rpm at 5psi. Thats not a lot considering the tremendous torque
increase in the low and midrange at that same 5psi. While its true that turbo's are
potentially capable of more HP at the wheels they can never match the seamless
power delivery of an S/C, particularly in an Automatic. To come even close to
the low end torque potential of an S/C requires a very small turbo which in
effect creates a large plug in the exhaust invisibly stealing HP and restricting
top end power in its own way.

(note: A properly setup Eaton S/C takes about 1/3rd of a hp to spin when off
boost cruising. A small turbo can steal about 5hp in the same situation.just
from the restriction in the exhaust..a pretty substantial hit to normal fuel
milage)

To my mind which direction you choose should depend on what your overall
goals are. If your goal is the most hp, by all means, go the turbo route. If your
goal is flexable power in traffic and instant seamless power delivery with
bunches of low/midrange torque, an S/C is the way to go.
