[V8] Sticky Torque Converter Solenoid

I had the same problem. The torque converter would lock at idle and cause
the car to stall. Turned out it was just the #1 solenoid. If you remove
the tranny pan, the #1 solenoid is the first one you see. You can remove it
and go to your local Tranny shop, or contact ZF directly to get the
replacement.

However, as long as you are in there, you might want to take the time to
remove the Valve Body and have it rebuilt. Since we didn't know at the time
that the #1 solenoid was the problem, dad and I removed the Valve body and
took it to "Ralph the ghost" to have it rebuilt. Once we got it back in and
all together, Man did that thing shift!!! When the Kickdown would put the
tranny into 2nd at 60 MPH, it would just slam into gear and take off.

If you need to get a copy of the ZF tranny parts breakdown manual, I'm sure
dad can get a copy to you.

Fluid level is the first thing I checked. Level is fine. I have the
dipstick to take the guess work out of it. Bill
