Try stuffing a 4.2 in there and see if it makes a difference... Can't
hurt, right ;-)

Actually my money is on the idle switch located inside the TPS (see my
post from earlier today). When I was having problems with mine (granted
an automatic) it was causing the car to buck when I took my foot off the
accelerator, like it was starved for gas. It also threw the auto tranny
into limp home mode... Not sure what it would do to a 5-spd, but could
be your culprit.

Make sure you hear the 'click' from the TPS when you lift the
accelerator leaver on the front of the throttle body and lat it return
to rest. No click, no idle switch. Should also throw a code for idle
switch.

Good luck,

- Jeremy

Yes, in fact, when the engine stalls, the dashlights
do come on even if the clutch is engaged and in gear.
This actually happened to me a few times with the
clutch engaged. All other times, the car stalled
immediately when I disengaged the clutch. Obviously
whith the clutch engaged, the engine is still turning,
but the ignition quits.
I'm starting to think it is a TPS issue, I'll have to
get my multimeter out this weekend and do some
diagnostics. Not sure what else could cause a problem
like this. The trip computer does in fact go to
infinity without throttle, however. Does the trip
computer get this info from the TPS? If so, the TPS
must be working. Any more ideas? Thanks for the
input guys.
