As some of you may recall, Rob Dupree and Scott J. were having a few beers
(imagine that) when they came up with the idea of stuffing an LT1 vette
motor into his old 5ktq chassis. After much tinkering and welding and
completion of the project in the summer of '99, it's done it's share of
traveling (including parade lap at Monterey Historics in 1999, Mid Ohio,
Grattan and other track venues (various transmissions and a few more
engines) and extended 140mph+ runs through NV (now how would I know that?) .
It currently resides in CO and will be at the Steamboat Springs Gruppe Q
event in February. Can you say TORQUE ? ;-)

> Wow, with all of this talk about transplants, it get the imagination
working overtime. When you depart from the pureist view of Audi-Audi to
Audi-Isuzu, Audi-VW(At least in the same stable), Audi-Honda; there are
endless possibilities. When the transplant move to a different make I think
that you should also select all the components.

> > I buddy at work says the F 308 and 328(?) are transversely mountedI was
thinking FWD. The Caddy and Taurus all I know of, but either wayit's
looking like the PT won't work sideways due to all the stuff that'dbe in the
way of the VW's r/s drive axle.I'm going to make a trip to my local Audi/VW
yard to scout out possiblealternatives for powering the VW with my tired old
V8:1) Adapt a logitudinally-mounted FWD 4k transmission2) Cannabalize a 4kq
to adapt rear suspension and always-locked trans toRWD scirocco3) Transfer
driveline of 4kq to quattro scirocco4) Shut the hell up and find a 4.2 for
my '91 v8 first.-DavePS: I really do have to do something with this
scirocco, and if I have aslightly worn out 3.6 V8 sitting around, it seems
like fate. Onesuggestion I really thought was crazy, yet not out of line
given theoutside-the-box thinking already was to put a FWD trans and 3.6 V8
allin the middle/back. Then I'd have a nice big trunk up
front...> -----Original Message----->
