[V8] Transverse V8 (wandering away from AC)

... I'd expect the FWD tranny from a 5-cyl car ... 4000 or 5000 ...
perhaps even newer models ... would bolt right up to a PT ... no matter
whether the PT was the automatic or manual variant.  

The thing I'd be wondering about was whether or not the Scirocco allowed
enough room in front of a longitudinal transaxle to allow a V8 to hang
out.  What you should do is to run a 928/944 style torque tube under the
car to transplanted Audi FWD front drive and create a RWD V8 Scirocco
...
