Actually, published book time is 4 hours on a v8 TB! I haven't been able to do one right in under 10hours. I average somewhere between 12-16h here in salty Chicago. If you are lucky, you need NOTHING else in that service. That said, a good mechanic is staring at a LOT of v8 service parts going in and coming out of a TB job. Make sure you don't look for a lowball on this job. Tell a mechanic that you 'only' want TB/WP service means that's all you get (btdt). Going back into the same components to fix the next problem you didn't hear about because of customer tunnel vision has no value.

If you find a shop that looks up the TB service and calls it at less than 8hours, run. That means he's never done it, most likely doesn't have the tools, and many times the car won't start when it's done. I know a couple on this list that had their mechanics call me with the above.

This is a big job, expect to pay big money, and find the right guy to do it.
