The dealer told me that the water pumps available through them were rebuilt
only!
Plus they were 2x or 3x the cost of the aftermarket.
I had a Mayle(sp?) pump I bought off the internet that started to weep a little
after a few thousand miles. I don't know why but the one I replaced that with
came with new bolts too. It has been fine but I don't remember the brand.
I got all my parts except the friction pad and tensioner from
www.importpartsspec.com. Ask for Rick.
As for "doing it right", you can make a pretty long list if you are not
carefull.
There is:
- oil pump bearing
- 3 timing belt bearings
- belt tensioner and friction pad
- water pump
- t-belt
just for the parts directly related to the t-belt.
Then there are a bunch of seals and gasgets that may need service.
Personally I would be comfortable letting all the bearings go 120K miles and do
the seals and gaskets as needed.
