[V8] Drove Through Snow, now alt=kaput? Belt is still on!

A little "bath" probably provided the last straw of contamination in the
alternator that already had been damaged by running without the belly pan.
My 200q20v (which has no such pan) had the alternator die from corrosion
inside from repeated exposure. Don't know why Audi puts alternators way
down at the bottom of the engine like that. The shop that rebuilt mine
showed me the old wiring--all rusted through.
