[V8] electrical failure - headlight bulb replacement

I replaced the stock bulbs on my '98 Volvo V70R Wagon with Sylvania Silverstars.  They were about $20 or so each at Pep Boys.  I found them to throw a noticeably brighter and crisper white light.  

My understanding is that they're not higher wattage, just more output.  Therefore, they don't require any wiring upgrades, but then again I don't have any experience with them in older Audis. Maybe someone here can confirm.
