[V8] reference sensor and rpm sensor replacement?

Bill, you've got a manual tranny ... as you know I've got two of the
same and have always done the job easily from below ... the only thing
that is a bit difficult is getting one of the connectors to lock into
the loom. I've tried that both from above (not too difficult once you
remove the left intake hose) and below and each is a bit difficult.

The thing is that there must be something different about the automatics
(perhaps the tranny filler tube?) which makes the job a bit more
problematic ...

What works really well for me is to get a 1/4" ratchet with a 10mm
socket and come in from behind the front wheel. There are two bolts
that attach the heat shield ... which also holds the plate with the
reference and speed sensors in place. Remove the two bolts and the
plate is free to be removed from the car. The sensors themselves are
held in place with a single bolt ... R&R is pretty easy IMO ...

... another comment ... remember that these sorts of things are fairly
common ... before posting up a request you might want to do a bit of an
archive search and check the audifans knowledgebase ...
