[V8] silverstar vs. HID

... thanks for the data points ... but you should also realize you've
got a bit of apples to oranges here ... remember that the V8 came out in
the days when the DOT was still being pretty anal in terms of allowing
anything but standardized illumination options ... your A6 benefits from
more advanced lenses in the headlights in addition to the HIDs.  I'd say
the motorcycle comparison would be a bit closer to what one might expect
with an HID conversion on a V8 ...

... being used to the Audi 5000 turbo headlights, the buckets on the V8
are a vast improvement ... I've never really felt much of a need to
switch to Euros ... or HIDs for that matter ... but a simple and
relatively cheap thing like the newer incandescents combined with relays
is certainly warranted IMO ...
